Dave was born in Pittsburgh PA, and grew up in Chicago (but he's still a Steelers fan). When he was 20, the Air Force decided he should live in California's High Desert. He met a girl and that was that - he's still here. He married that girl, Julie, in 1984. She's still here too! (She is a woman of great patience.) In fact, she's the worship leader at GBC.
Over the years Dave has worked as a civilian in the Department of Defense, a computer specialist at the phone company, a working musician, and a High School music teacher. During his off-time, Dave served as a volunteer musician at several churches.
Dave's first role as paid church staff was overseeing multiple bands at a large church. In time he accepted a position as Director of Tech and Contemporary Worship at a different church. During this time, Dave sensed a call to pastoral ministry, and began studying theology through Moody Bible Institute.
Dave joined the Grace Bible Church staff in 2006 as Minister of Family Life, and became the lead pastor in 2013. Dave's goal in ministry is to see people continually grow deeper in their connection to God, living out a bold faith.
Other goals in life include catching large fish, riding large motorcycles, and playing normal size guitars.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
