In prayer, we learn to abide in Jesus and experience Jesus’ spirit abiding in us. We abide in the physical body of Jesus on earth in community with our local church. We are the eyes, ears, and hands of Jesus to others, as they are the physical expression of Jesus to us. We come to know God in one another and cooperate with God for Kingdom purposes. Jesus provided the foundations for effective prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4. In addition, a careful review of the actual prayers of Jesus reveals that he practiced what he taught.
