Today, although we've only scratched the surface, we finish off the series with a look at the mission Jesus came to fulfill and the messenger God sent to prepare the way. Today we take a brief look at how prophecy can be simple to understand - or very difficult. We examine some predictions about the identity of the child to be born in Bethlehem, and we check out some parallels with a very mysterious Old Testament character. Then we finish off with a passage that reveals the central act of God's plan, centuries before it happens.

Contrary to the opinion of some, the events of this world are not arbitrary or random. The things that happen to us, just like things that happen throughout the world, have their place in God's plan. We can see the precision of God's plan by looking at the Old Testament prophecies about the coming of Christ. There are over 300 predictions about his life, death and resurrection. So many, that the ancients could have almost celebrated Christmas in 400 B.C.! Join us as we begin taking a look at Christ in the Old Testament.

Giving Thanks in All Things - Psalm 100
Join us as Dr. David Grant reminds us the power of gratitude and the call to be thankful are central to our faith. Psalm 100 calls us collectively to express our joy, to know our God, and to express our gratitude in worship. The challenge some of us encounter occurs during trials from many possible sources. We may find it difficult to rejoice when a loved one suffers or dies. We may struggle to thank God when we lose our job. Psalm 100 reminds us of six reasons we can, and indeed spiritually, we must continue to make joyful noise and come into God’s presence with thanksgiving.

Psalm 11
This week, as we anticipate the end of the presidential campaign, we look at lessons we can learn from Psalm 11. We may feel like society is crumbling around us, and we're angry, we're afraid, and wondering how the rightous should respond. We have to realize this situation is nothing new. The people of ancient Israel struggled with the same type of problems. Join us as the psalmist explains God's perspective on these things.

PSALM 37, Part 2
This week we look at Psalm 37:20-40. As King David continues with this psalm he gives us some ideas about what sort of behaviors fall into the "wicked" category vs. the "godly" category. He mentions a couple of ideas that Jesus restates in the Sermon on the Mount, including this well-known line: "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth." Yes, that idea comes from Psalm 37. But wait - meek doesn't mean what most people think it does. Join us to find out more!
