Great Expectations - Part 3
Today we continue our Christmas series about the gifts we receive from God as result of the arrival of Christ. So far we have looked at the promises of Hope and Peace. Today we continue with the promise of Joy - as in Joy to the World, an old (1719) favorite Christmas Carol. But in our day and age, joy can be hard to come by. And wait... what exactly does Joy mean? That's a good question, and today we'll consider the definition we find in the Bible. Join us as we dig in.

Today we continue with the promise of Peace on Earth. But wait... that promise was made over 2000 years ago, so where is the peace that was promised? That's a good question, but the Bible gives us a great answer! Join us as we dig in.

Great Expectations 1
Today we start a Christmas series about the gifts we receive from God as result of the arrival of Christ. Following the basic themes of the centuries-old tradition of Advent, we look at the idea of Hope. The ancient Greeks, and more recent philosophers, believed hope is an illusion, a great evil, because it prolongs man's torment.
Oh, but God has better things in mind for us. Join us as we examine the reality of Hope!

Water from the Rock: The Role of Faith in Life with God
When the Israelites faced a life-threatening crisis (no water) at Rephidim, they responded with complaints, entitlement, and a crippling doubt: "Is the LORD here with us or not?" Drawing from Exodus 17:1-7, this message examines how faith is challenged when we come to a "place where there is no water". We explore Moses' prayerful response , God's miraculous provision , and the nature of faith: assurance of God's promises, conviction of His presence, and surrender to His providential will. The sermon invites us to renew our faith in Immanuel, God with us, even in the face of suffering.

Refocus - Part 8 - Measures
As Christians, we have a very clear mission - to make disciples, followers of Jesus. But, how do we know when we're successful? How can such a thing be measured? Maybe when people start showing improved behavior? When they become more moral? What are the marks of a true disciple? Join us as we share the final message of our Mission and Vision Study.

It's too easy for mission drift to draw us away from our main focus. Today we'll be looking at ways to make our mission come to life ad stay on track, drawing on ancient wisdom and current news to learn what to do, along with what not to do.

Refocus - Part 5 - Community
We live in a world of digital connectivity and social networking. So why do we so often feel disconnected from real people in a world of social not-working? Studies show that people long for connection, for a sense of real community, so they search for a community they can fit into, but can't seem to find it. There's a reason for that - community is not discovered, it must be built. And that happens as believers come together with a common purpose and spirit - the Holy Spirit. Join us as we take a closer look.

Refocus - Part 4 - Authenticity
One of the most common complaints non-Christians make is about hypocrisy in the church. And all too often, they're right. Sometimes Christians do not set the best example - their actions don't match their words. People can smell phony from a mile away. That's why Authenticity sits right in the middle of our core values. Join us as we discuss what it means to be real and transparent, and even more importantly, how we can make that a reality in our lives.
